After graduating from secondary school, I went to Vienna to become a social worker. I worked for four years with young girls who were on probation. Then I studied history and Italian and worked as a teacher in a secondary school until I retired. I came to Ravensbrück through Irma Trksak, one of the co-founders of the Austrian Ravensbrück Camp Community, who was my husband's uncle's fiancée. I contacted her because I wanted to know more about her story and her life. She also came to the school where I taught as a contemporary witness. My husband's uncle, who was in the same resistance group, died in a satellite camp of Mauthausen. I have been involved in the Austrian Ravensbrück Camp Community since 2018. My two daughters, who support me greatly in my commitment, are also an important point of reference.
