Commemoration marking the 81st anniversary of the liberation of the Ravensbrück concentration camp on 2 and 3 May 2026.

12.03.2026
On 2 and 3 May 2026, the Ravensbrück Memorial will mark the 81st anniversary of the liberation of the Ravensbrück women’s concentration camp with a diverse program of commemorative events.

The anniversary takes place at a time when democratic societies around the world are under pressure and antisemitic, racist, and far-right positions are becoming louder again. Remembering the crimes of National Socialism therefore remains a shared responsibility.

This year as well, survivors of the Ravensbrück concentration camp and their families are expected at the memorial site. We warmly welcome everyone who wishes to join in remembrance and to mark this anniversary together.

On Saturday, 2 May, among other activities, the Market of Remembrance and Encounter with civil society initiatives and projects, guided tours of the former camp grounds, and various commemorative formats will invite visitors to engage with the history of the site and to enter into dialogue with one another.

On Sunday, 3 May, at 10 a.m., the central commemoration marking the 81st anniversary of the liberation will take place. Please register on the website of the Ravensbrück Memorial.

Further information and the full programme will follow shortly. Please see the website of the Ravensbrück Memorial.

The 81st anniversary of the liberation is supported with funds from the Ministry of Science, Research and Culture of the State of Brandenburg (MWFK), the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM), and the Foundation “Remembrance, Responsibility and Future” (EVZ).
