She was born in 1898, married to a doctor, had two children, me and my brother. During the war she was involved in different illegal work, among all helping Jews and others to escape to Sweden (that was neutral). She was arrested in april 1943, tortured, sent to jail in Oslo for two months, then to Germany and Ravensbrück from 13 of June 1943 till 7 of April 1945, most of the time as NN-prisoner. She was saved by the Swedish Red Buses. After liberation she started writing down her memories from the camp, letters that became a book: «Fange i Ravensbrück», edited as early as 1946, and reedited several times, lately this year. It has been nominated to be one of the ten most importend books from war literature in Norway. She wrote several books, and lots of articles. She was member of an International Committee fighting against concentration Camps, and the rest of her life she used her strong social conscience helping other people that had big traumas after the war. She died in 1985.
